How to Set Facebook Ringtone, Messages and Post Notification Sounds in Android

I absolutely love personalization, and that extends to every aspect of my phone, from wallpapers to ringtones to even notification sounds. Facebook, being a part of my daily life, should be no exception. The default notification sounds on Facebook can be quite annoying, especially when you’re in a crowd of Facebook users and everyone’s phone goes off at the same time.

But fear not! You can easily change these sounds without having to rely on third-party apps. Everything you need is right within the Facebook and Messenger settings. Let me walk you through the process.

Changing the Facebook Notification Sound

First, open your Facebook app and tap the three horizontal lines at the top-right corner of the page. Then, scroll down and select “Settings and Privacy,” followed by “Settings.”

Now, continue scrolling until you find the “Notifications” section. Tap on “Notification Settings.” From there, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you’ll see the “Where You Receive Notifications” option. Choose “Push.”

On the next screen, tap on the “Tone” option. Here, you’ll find a list of different sounds to choose from. Take your time, listen to each one, and pick the one you like the most. Once you’ve made your selection, tap “OK.” Voila! Your default notification sound for Facebook is now changed.

Changing the Default Message Tone in Facebook Messenger

To change the default sound for messages in Facebook Messenger, open the “Settings” app on your phone. Scroll down and locate the “Notifications” section. Once the list of apps loads, find and select “Messenger.” Then, under the “Notifications” area, tap on “Chats and Calls.”

Within this section, you’ll find two options. The first, “Importance,” allows you to control how calls and chats are displayed and whether they make noises. The second option is what we’re looking for — tap on “Sound.”

Similar to the Facebook notification sound, you’ll be presented with a list of sound options. Listen to them, choose your favorite, and simply tap the back arrow at the top-left to save your selection.

If you want to change the notification sound for group chats, go back to the main “Notifications” screen and repeat the same process.

Changing the Default Sound for Receiving Calls on Messenger

Additionally, you can also customize the sound you hear when receiving a call on Facebook Messenger. Once again, head to your phone’s “Settings,” then select “Notifications,” and choose “Messenger.”

This time, select “Other,” click on “Sound,” and choose from the available options.

And that’s it! Now you can enjoy customized notification sounds on both Facebook and Messenger.
